Interesting article. We have a gold area here on Hearst Ranch Property not far from the earthquake capital of California Parkfield. Gold Hill was mined by  the Spanish.  Nuggets have been found all around the small honey combed hill right near the San Andres Fault. Tried to get permission to go there from the Hearst Ranch house nearby and it was absolutely not.  Worth a try though. Could be that kind of gold deposit.
